Did I Understand?

1. Why was Kane a ‘long way’ home? Because he wanted to skim rocks.

2. How did Cain know where the sharks were? He saw the shadows.

3. How did Kane feel about letting the family know about the sharks? How do you know? He felt sad

4. How did Kane’s father react when he got home? Why? Angery

Imagine you are the father of the swimming family. Write a diary entry to reflect your experiences along with your thoughts and feelings about the events in the story.

Dear Diary, Kane is trying to warn the swimmers that they are in the feeding spot. He needs help.

But there’s some dinghies down by the shore and he said to himself that one of them must be loss he ran over to the dinghies he saw one that was loss and it was all scratched and dented but he said uh it looks safe anuf the life jacket was tacked in under the seat the paddles were sitting down on the floor.
